The medical device company, NUA Surgical, based in Gallway Ireland continues to win innovation completion after another. The latest is a global competition with a specific focus on improving outcomes for women and their expectant children. Parkview Health, based in Fort Wayne, Indiana in collaboration with MATTER sponsored this global innovation competition. The Healthy Mom and Baby Innovation Competition focused on uncovering new and innovative ways to improve health outcomes for Indiana mothers and infants.

RNB Ventures Consulting Inc. has supported NUA Surgical since 2020 and were not surprised by their continued success in winning another innovation competition. The maternal and fetal risk following c-section continues to be high and growing steadily in lock-step with the growing number of expectant mothers that are categorized as obese or morbidly obese. The NUA Surgical SteriCISION single-use, disposable retractor takes aim to support the workflow for the obstetrician during cesarean delivery combined with augmenting post-cesarean complications such as post-operative wound infections and 30-day readmission.

The key to the success of NUA Surgical is simple: a highly qualified team, development of a solution that fits an unmet medical need and the unmet medical need is sizable (global issue).
